Eleanor's Maps - Fiveturns

‘FIVETURNS’

Inspired by two popular suburbs of Brighton: Sevendials, and Fiveways.

I enjoyed creating different sections of this map, each with different styles of housing.

This is one of my most popular artworks and looks particularly striking when printed.

‘EASTENDAM’

Jointly inspired by travels in the Netherlands, often with a small canal through a town centre. And, of course, the Eastenders opening/closing scene.

I love the curvy shape of this one and it works particularly well as a landscape print.

‘RUNNINGMAN’

I started drawing this one with the main roads travelling through it, which soon reminded me of a person running along.

It’s inspired by my travels around English towns.

I enjoy how this map turned out, it’s one of my favourites. It has a quirky feeling about it, not many straight lines!

‘QUAYHAVEN’

10+ years of living aboard boats along the English coast inspired this one. It’s a bit like a small South Devon town, with a harbour and quayside for boats.

Small terraces inspired by fishermen’s cottages. And bigger buildings too, for social & community opportunities, from schools to housing and pubs!

Which house are you staying in on holiday and which pub are you going to stop at on your way back from the beach?!

‘FARMBUURT’

A bit different to the others, this has a lot more green space. It’s an old village which has sprawled out, surrounded by lots of beautiful fields and farms.

Inspired by travels in the Netherlands and also Essex on the East Coast of England.

‘TRIBAULTON’

This is a favourite of mine. I love the central focus of the map, with different styles of housing emerging around it.

I consciously sacrificed open space with this map, as I was enjoying drawing dense urban areas.

I like the varying patterns of roads, with lots of quirky curved streets, and straight ones too.

Can you spot the tribal dancing person within the map – see the headdress?

‘FOVE’

Inspired by the Edwardian & Victorian architecture of Hove, nestling next to Brighton on the bustling South Coast.

Think dense urban environment, with lots of appreciation for architecture and open space.

I enjoyed drawing this one, with the different patterns and shapes that emerged within it.

It also looks a bit like a giant garden fork. Hove x fork = Fove.

I have drawn more maps
Plus, always making new ones
I will share them soon
